You have already been cleared of the murder.  The Inspector confirmed that you were up late playing cards in the lounge with the butler during the hours leading up to the discovery of the body.  You immediately assessed the time of death as half past eleven at night.   

In examining Mr. White’s body, you learned that the murder is even more perplexing than it appears.  The victim was, as is commonly known, bludgeoned over the head. However, there was not nearly enough blood for the nature of his injuries. This suggests that he may have already been dead when the attack took place.
